Whilst researching Fly Agaric Mushrooms for my Alice in Wonderland lino print, I stumbled upon spore printing. Spore prints are primarily used as a means of identifying a wild mushroom. Along with spore colour and other characteristics you can correctly identify a wild mushroom. Fortunately it’s wild Mushroom season here in Tassie! I collected some wild mushrooms (mostly Fly Agarics), and made some spore prints. The prints are delicate and beautiful and have an ethereal quality. I’m sure I can incorporate them into my printmaking practice and combine them with other printing techniques. Here are some photos of the spore prints.
